At Blooming Heather our ethos is to produce beautiful botanical style floral designs in a sustainable, socially responsible and environmentally friendly way as far as we possibly can.
To keep our ‘flower miles’ as low as possible we use seasonal and locally grown flowers wherever possible, sourcing flowers from local growers first and if we can’t find what you are looking for we’ll look further afield at other UK growers. We understand that flowers don’t grow all year in Scotland, they don’t even grow in the comparatively tropical south of England all year round, so if your wedding or event happens to be in mid winter, or you have your heart set on a particular flower which isn’t in season in the UK, or even grown here at all, we’ll source Dutch flowers for you, or we will use flowers grown elsewhere.
We try hard to avoid using plastic and floral foams in our designs; we use re-usable vases, sustainable wool twine and naturally dyed silk ribbons and we limit the amount of plastic / cellophane wrap for our bouquets as far as possible.
